Is Luxembourg a ship?
The (country of) Luxembourg (49.611667°N 6.13°E) is located between (those) of Belgium, Germany and France. One third of its capital city’s population is inhabited by nonluxembourgian citizens, while a vast amount of people is moving towards it from neighbouring countries, mostly for working purposes. In that manner, Luxembourg seems to constitute a communal meeting point in space, for person from a variety of places of origin. According to this condition, the team’s research is focused on the ways these people are experiencing this constant state of flux and transition. The main question is formulated as follows: could this kind of mobility serve as a means of place formation and configuration? The team’s field of artistic action is everyday public spaces and the interaction of people with it. The project of negotiation does not seem to be in need of a clear or unequivocal object or scope, to be stated beforehand, but is based on (and should be described as) an open-ended, creative procedure. Game, interplay, wandering, freedom and critical thought being its basic tool palette, the team in trying to create its own, novel “levitated space”. On one hand, the project seems to resemble a hybrid social research. On the other, it is an artistic route , whose aim is to disengage thought and perception from usual, well-known paths and confront new territories of actions and fresh artistic approaches.
